The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is the only 'tripartite' organisation in the UN family that brings together representatives of governments, employers and workers to jointly shape policies and programmes promoting Decent Work for all.

The DWT/CO–Pretoria is the International Labour Organisation’s Decent Work Team for Eastern and Southern Africa and ILO Country Office for South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.

The ILO Decent Work Agenda (DWA) is implemented at the country level through Decent Work Country Programmes (DWCPs) that have been established as the main vehicle for delivery of ILO support to the Member States. DWCP’s promote Decent Work as a key component of national development strategies and constitute a programming tool to deliver on a limited number of priorities over a defined period.

The role of the Decent Work Country Programmes (DWCP) also extends to organising ILO knowledge, instruments, advocacy and cooperation at the service of tripartite constituents in a strategic results-based framework to advance the Decent Work Agenda within various fields of the International Labour Organisation.
